>> new information in the lehigh valley missing persons case. investigators uncover brand new evidence against a woman's accused killer. >> his top choice president-elect trump will officially reveal his pick for secretary of state. it is putting him at odds with people in his own party. >> good morning. 5:30 now on this tuesday december 13. karen is off. let's get your weather and traffic with dave murphy and matt pelman. good morning. >> we've had a lot of clouds noelle overnight there. could be some sunny breaks in some neighborhoods early but generally speaking we expect the clouds top continues to fill in and by later today we should be all out cloudy. temperatures this morning are on the cold side. we're still at 36 degrees in philadelphia but closer to the freezing mark and even a little below it in some spots like allentown reading lancaster millville. 34 in wilmington and trenton and 40 degrees in cape may. not a lot of wind out there. in fact overall we expect winds to stay pretty much what you're seeing here. there's a 12 in reading but most of the time you're going to be in the single digits so not a morning where you have to worry about strong winds and that wind chill. still it's pretty chilly.
by 7 o'clock he could be down to about 33 degrees. again some of you possibly seeing some sun in the early part of the day. by noon, mostly cloudy, 40. your high today is going to be 43 at 3 o'clock and then we zip on down to the upper 30's by 7 o'clock and down to the freezing mark again for overnight lows. another decent day tomorrow but the big story comes wednesday night into thursday when arctic air returns to the region, highs in the 20's, wind chills even worse. oh, my, matt we got a lot to talk about in full weather coming up. >> you know it's always something david and this morning roads are dry so we're not seeing as many accidents but we're seeing a lot more overnight construction crews out there on those roads and one of the crews has been causing huge problems. it's the one here working on the sign along the schuylkill expressway. both directions impacted between the roosevelt boulevard and montgomery drive but at this point as you can tell from the travel times it's the eastbound traffic that is more severely impacted. only getting by there on the shoulder so coming away from city avenue just 9 miles per hour headed eastbound on the
schuylkill towards center city. again, you really wants to stick with the river drives, the mlk which is now reopened or the kelly or even think outside the box and use ridge avenue or lancaster avenue. eastbound schuylkill is still a mess heading towards center city this morning. overnight construction on 95 southbound by academy has cleared. as has the work here on the vine street expressway. all lanes reopened in both directions. of course crews do return tonight at 11 o'clock but for now, you're good to go on the vine. crossing between pennsylvania and new jersey on the turnpike connector bridge some slowing on the eastbound side. there's construction in both directions taking out the left lane for the next half hour. and in brooklawn westville we've got a big hole in the road along 47 northbound at 130 northbound. 47 is completely blocked as is the right lane on 130 itself. matt. >> thank you, matt. we are following breaking news right now. a man was shot in the face outside of a gentleman's club in philadelphia. it happened during an attempted robbery. "action news" reporter annie mccormick is live at temple
university hospital where that victim is being treated right now. annie. >> reporter: and matt that's right, that victim remains here at temple university hospital in stable condition. this all happened around 4:00 in the morning. what you're looking at behind me now is a car that is by the entrance of the hospital. this car right here, right now is being held by police. that's because this is the vehicle that that victim was in with another man when an attempt robbery occurred and that victim was shot in the face. now, i want to show you video from the other scene. this is from near broad and germantown. that's about a block away from that club that the gentlemen were at. that's where police are looking for evidence right now. now, police say the two men left the club which is at broad and eerie when they got into the car parked at the 3700 block of germantown a suspect walked up with a gun and announced a rob regional rail he fired one shot hitting the 28-year-old passenger in the face. the 33-year-old driver fired back with his own weapon, then drove to temple hospital. there was also a shot that hit the window of a deli near the
shooting scene. now, back out here live, again, with this car, another reason why they're holding this vehicle right now is not only because there's ballistic evidence in it, it's also because the gun that the driver used to fire back is still in that car and they want to use that also as part of evidence at this time but that car is where the victims were. again, they were the victims of an attempt robbery and the passenger shot in the face. now, as for the suspect he did get away. they are still looking for him. they're not sure if that suspect was shot by the driver so they're not sure the extent of the injuries right now. they are checking local hospitals. they're also checking local surveillance video in the areas where the crime occurred. for now reporting live outside of temple university hospital, annie mccormick channel6 "action news." back to you. >> all right, annie, thank you for that. new on "action news" three men recovering this morning after a triple shooting in west philadelphia. shots rang out outside a convenience store at 58th and delancey streets at 7 o'clock last night. police say two 24-year-old men
and one man believed to be somewhere in his 20's were shot in the legs. all three victims were taken to the hospital. all three are in that stable condition. police have not made any arrests. we can learn more today about a deadly train accident in delaware. a train hit and killed al person walking along the tracks in wilmington. they say the person was hit by a southbound amtrak train just after 8 o'clock last night. the victim has not been identified and investigators don't yet know why they were there in the path of that train. now both tracks were shut down for about 20 minutes and will reopen at a restricted speed by 9 o'clock in the evening. delaware officials say an investigation is ongoing. >> ♪ >> happening today, comedian bill cosby is due back in a moving of montgomery county courtroom for a pretrial hearing. lawyers for cosby will try to limit the number of accusers who will be able to testify at his sexual assault trial t cosby is charged with drugging and sexually assaulting former temple university employee andrea constand 2004 at his
home in cheltenham a judge ruled that testimony cosby gave in conouldn't stashed's civil case can be usedly. >> michael horvath a coworker of the victim holly grim was charged with murder and kidnapping. grim's remains were found on horvath's property in monroe county just this past october. investigators reveal they also found two gun cartridges a-book of notes and pictures of grim's home there. grim disappeared in november of 2013. police say horvath had been on their radar the entire time. >> donald trump has tweeted he will announce his choice for secretary of state this morning. trump is expected to name exxon mobil chief executive rex tillerson as his pick for secretary of state but the selection could set trump up for a potential fight with
congress including with some republicans over till tillerson's confirmation. tillerson has worked closely with the state owned oil and gas industry in russia and he's the only american to have ever received the order of friendship medal from vladimir putin. >> 5:37a burlington county family is hoping police can track down a real life grinch. ron and marie murdza have been keeping a donation box outside their nome burlington township. they've been collecting money for the local food pantry for six years. they usually collect a few hundred dollars in donations per night. someone pried the lock offer the box over the weekend and ran off with the cash. >> i think it's despicable that someone would steal from poor people that need the food. the food pantry needs the money and they would take it out of the box break into the box to take away from them. >> the burlington township food pantry says it depends on the money the murdzas collect. the couple is begging the person who took the cash to return it. >> let's hope they do indeed return it.
let's talk a little bit about how cold it's going to be. >> yeah, chilly -- you know, kind of cold this morning and then chilly the next couple afternoons but wednesday night into thursday oh my. storm tracker6 live double scan right now though shows you we're dry this morning. as we take a look outside we have clouds gathering across the region. there might be a bit of early sunshine but in general we expect the clouds to increase during the day. your temperature is cold in philadelphia. we're at 36 degrees currently, some suburbs down around the freezing mark. winds are out of the west at 7 miles per hour. not all that strong so we don't have to worry about a big time wind chill. there you see how the clouds have gotten thicker. they might be thin enough to allow some sunshine early but generally speaking the clouds are going to thicken as we go through the day and night. today's forecast 33 degrees by 8 o'clock, 37 by 10 o'clock been noon, 40 with those clouds gathering. by 3 o'clock, 43. that's going to be your high today and again this afternoon winds remain on the light side. by 6 o'clock, we're back down into the upper 30's. doesn't take long to get back
there later on tonight. high temperatures, well, it looks like we're stuck in the upper 30's even at the best of times in allentown today. a high of 40 in reading, 43 in philadelphia and wilmington and millville and in cape may. 46 at the airport in atlantic city. that's about as mild a spot as you're going to find today. everybody chilly. everybody looking at light winds but with those clouds increasing. by 6 o'clock tonight you can see how it's fairly cloudy across the region and then later on this evening app shower is possible and maybe even a brief snow shower up in the lehigh valley or points like northern bucks and montgomery county. something to keep in mind if you're driving around late tonight. probably fairly low impact but be careful. and then tomorrow another similar high of 42 degrees but the big feature on the map will be this arctic fronts. cold air behind it. this will be sweeping in and on wednesday night you'll start to feel the winds pick up and those temperatures plunge and by the time we get into thursday, you're looking at high temperatures in the low to mid-20's across the region and with strong blustery winds it will feel like it's between 10 degrees
in the afternoon in philadelphia and points south. down to about zero in the morning and at night and that range of wind chills in the northern suburbs anywhere from zero to 10 below and at times in the poconos 10 to 15 degrees below zero in terms of real feel chill so very frigid wednesday night and through the day on thursday. your exclusive accuweather 7-day 43 increasing clouds today, maybe a shower or a snow shower tonight. clouds and sun on wednesday, 42 but then app frigid night with those temperatures plunging, maybe a snow shower around and then on thursday, a bitter wind, a high of just 24. wind chills making it feel like it's about 10 to 15 degrees at the best of times and on friday not quite as windy but still pretty cold with a high of 23. at night there could be snow on friday that could mix with ice and that mix spills into saturday morning so friday night into saturday morning not only is it cold but it could be icy and perhaps treacherous out there. we do expect a change to rain on saturday afternoon.

getting by on the schuylkill expressway which as you can imagine is causing big delays already this morning coming east of city avenue. westbound at least you have two lanes getting by head toward the boulevard. so that's a little bit better but if you're headed toward the city, i would stick with the river drives, the mlk or the kelly at this point the schuylkill is still a mess. and we don't know when these crews are going to clear out. we asked and the word was well, whenever they're ready to, so hopefully that's soon but, yes, it is big problem on the schuylkill expressway. let's get suburban early on this tuesday morning, limekiln pike closing today for 10 months in montgomery township so this is a big heads up in that area. county line road and lower state going to be your alternates around that for next 10 months. also have some work beginning at 7 o'clock this morning lasting until friday evening. they're closing snuff mill road near hockessin. so ashley clinton school read or way road would be some alternates. last evening down in bare they closed den flee road just a
chunk between southbound and northbound 896 but that's closed until next spring r the ramps connecting 72 with route one are going to be closed starting at 7 o'clock this morning. time for the commuter report a icy patch in upper hanover along geryville pike close to old school district road. not a lot of them but there may be a couple this morning. matt. >> new on "action news" here a-high-rise apartment building caught fire in the united arab emirate. video posted on social media shows the dubai skyline with the building a blaze. firefighters put it out o the building was safely evacuated. no injuries were reported. this is the latest in a string of blazes to race up multi story buildings in the skyscraper packed city. >> a news conference may reveal the cause of that warehouse infern now in oakland california that killed 36 people who were inside the warehouse for a party. at tf and oakland officials are expected to priest media later today. a fire official says the warehouse does not appear to be in a database for fire
inspectors to use for that scheduling inspections. in fact the warehouse which was a living space for numerous people may have never been checked for fire hazards. and a sad irony a fire station is right around the corner from that warehouse. >> another story brand new a bomb threat forced a pilot to make an emergency landing in new york. the lufthansa flight was coming from houston texas when someone made the bomb threat to the airline's corporate office. the pilot learned of the call and opted to land the plane at j.f.k. airport. more than 500 pals jersey were evacuated. it is still unclear what the threat was about and whether or not authorities found any kind of device on the plane. and police in france are investigating an elaborate gold heist. a group of four people were able to steal dozens of kilograms of the precious metal from an armored truck yesterday. the robbers had forced the truck off the highway broke inside of it and then locked the delivery man inside and then set one of their own cars
on fire before getting away. police say the stolen gold is worth $1 million. >> also new on "action news" a new take on a crime that's popular this time of year. take a large the video appears to show a man delivering a pizza in indiana but after a few curious looks and knocks on the door the imposter who is really a package thief strikes taking off with more than what he came up with. leon neto and his wife were out shopping when an app on his phone sent a signal that someone was on his porch. >> when i got the application up and running, i could see a guy getting into his car in our drive way and he had something in his hands. >> but the thief may have been pretty disappointed with the swipe. the box just contained a pair of slippers. police are looking for the suspect. >> 5:48 now and the new way for children to tell santa what they want for christmas is coming up. >> also, cell phone video shows the creature that, oh, yikes, startled a man outside
